The Oasis Visitors Center serves as the northern park entrance from the town of Twentynine Palms and Highway 62. Park staff are available to help answer your questions about what to do, campsite availability, and more. If this is your first time to Joshua Tree National Park, stop in and check out some exhibitions on the geology, flora, and fauna found in the park. A small gift shop, flush restrooms, and drinking water are also available here.
Behind the visitors center is a short interpretive loop hike. Wander through one of only five fan palm oases found in the park while learning about the history of the area. This is a nice introductory hike to the park and serves as a good starting point. The trail is mostly paved and flat the entire way. Signs are available at close intervals to highlight historic and natural aspects of Joshua Tree National Park.
